Product Overview
The KFD2-STC4-Ex2 is a two-channel intrinsically safe isolated barrier and smart transmitter power supply module from Pepperl+Fuchs K-System series, designed to form the safety interface between 2-wire 4–20 mA field transmitters located in explosive hazardous areas and the safe-side DCS/PLC control system. This module provides regulated loop power for field sensors such as pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters, while limiting voltage, current and energy fed into Zone 0/1 hazardous locations to meet intrinsic safety explosion protection requirements.
It resolves critical risks in hazardous process industries, including excessive electrical energy triggering ignition of flammable gas, vapor or dust mixtures, ground loop interference causing drifting analog readings, transient surge damage to expensive plant control cards, and non-compliant barrier configurations failing third-party safety audits. Each channel features full galvanic isolation between the safe control cabinet side and field hazardous side, effectively blocking common-mode noise and voltage spikes induced by frequency converters, large motors and high-voltage switchgear in process plants.
