Product Overview
The 1784‑PKTX/BA01 is a universal PCI‑bus network interface card used to connect an industrial PC to legacy Rockwell automation networks: DH+, Remote I/O and DH‑485. It enables programming, online monitoring, tag‑data acquisition and remote‑I/O scanner functionality for PLC‑5, SLC 500 and SoftLogix‑5 controllers. Dual‑port onboard memory offloads protocol processing from host‑CPU, delivering stable deterministic communication performance in heavy‑EMI factory environments. The BA01 suffix defines specific hardware revision variant. It works together with RSLinx Classic software to build HMI, SCADA and engineering‑station connections for legacy automation systems.
This interface card addresses legacy‑PLC integration challenges: direct PCI‑host connection to DH+/RIO field networks, galvanic isolation suppressing ground‑loop noise, drop‑in spare‑part compatibility for existing 1784‑PKTX retrofit‑maintenance projects. Automation engineers, manufacturing‑plant maintenance technicians and retrofit integrators benefit most. Typical applications: steel‑mill, water‑treatment, power‑plant legacy PLC‑5 / SLC‑500 programming‑station and HMI server cabinets.
Key Application Notes
‑PCI add‑in board; cannot operate standalone. Requires compatible industrial PC PCI slot, RSLinx Classic software and matching field‑network cabling. ‑End‑of‑sale: March‑31‑2022; only aftermarket surplus/refurbished spare‑parts available. ‑Not PCI‑Express (PCIe); cannot insert into PCIe‑only motherboard slots. ‑Not hot‑swap hardware: PC must be fully powered‑off before card installation or removal. ‑BA01 hardware revision must match original part‑number; cross‑revision substitution may cause firmware incompatibility. ‑Follow Rockwell 1784‑PKTX user manual for terminal‑block wiring, network termination resistor and driver‑configuration steps.
