Product Overview
The PLX31-EIP-MBS4 is an independent DIN-rail mounted industrial protocol conversion gateway engineered by ProSoft Technology to deliver stable bidirectional data exchange between EtherNet/IP control platforms and multi-drop Modbus serial field equipment. This four-channel isolated communication module acts as a network translator, connecting Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix EtherNet/IP PACs to legacy Modbus RTU/ASCII instruments such as variable frequency drives, power analyzers, temperature transmitters, remote I/O blocks and flow controllers across factory and process automation sites.
It resolves prominent integration bottlenecks in mixed-generation control architectures, including communication incompatibility between modern Ethernet-based host controllers and aging serial field devices, high hardware costs from deploying multiple single-port converters, signal crosstalk on shared Modbus buses, and lengthy reconfiguration workflows during spare module replacement. Equipped with four fully isolated serial channels, embedded EDS profile for direct RSLogix integration, SD card offline configuration backup and adjustable RPI bandwidth allocation, the gateway maintains consistent polling performance under electrical noise, wide temperature swings and heavy multi-device bus loading inside industrial control cabinets.
