Overview: The ABB REF615 is a compact feeder protection and control relay for medium-voltage distribution networks including radial, looped, and meshed systems with or without distributed generation. It combines protection, metering, control, and fault recording into a withdrawable unit, reducing panel space and commissioning time. Distribution engineers, substation operators, and industrial facility teams use it for reliable, fast protection across grounded, compensated, and isolated-neutral networks.
Key Functions:
- Directional and Non-Directional Overcurrent and Earth-Fault Protection: Three-stage overcurrent and sensitive ground fault with selectable characteristics—ideal for high-resistance and compensated networks.
- Advanced Fault Detection: Supports admittance-based, wattmetric, and harmonic-restraint earth-fault detection; optional arc-flash detection via current + light sensors.
- Integrated Measurement and Metering: High-accuracy current, voltage, power, energy, frequency, and power-quality data available locally and remotely.
- IEC 61850 Native Communication: GOOSE messaging enables high-speed interlocking, auto-reclosing, and peer-to-peer tripping without hardwired signals.
- Simplified Installation and Maintenance: Withdrawable module allows hot-swap and testing without rewiring; graphical local HMI and PCM600 software assist setup and diagnostics.
