Product Overview
The SST-PB3-PCU-2-B is an industrial-grade 32-bit PCI PROFIBUS DP communication interface card engineered for rugged industrial workstation and IPC deployment, acting as a dedicated hardware gateway linking industrial personal computers to standard PROFIBUS DP fieldbus networks. Equipped with an onboard independent 32-bit co-processor and flash firmware storage, this card offloads all heavy bus polling, data framing and node addressing tasks from the host PC CPU, delivering deterministic real-time cyclic data exchange with up to 126 PROFIBUS DP slave devices including remote I/O modules, variable frequency drives, valve positioners and process transmitters.
It resolves critical communication limitations in legacy automation architectures, including host PC CPU overload caused by continuous fieldbus polling, unisolated RS485 bus lines susceptible to ESD damage and electromagnetic interference, inconsistent baud rate matching across multi-vendor slave devices, and lack of unified data access for SCADA logging and system diagnostic reporting. The integrated 1000V electrical isolation blocks ground loop currents and voltage surges generated by high-power motors and switching cabinets, maintaining stable bus operation in electrically noisy manufacturing, power generation and petrochemical environments.
