Product Overview
The PW484‑50 S1 is a rack‑mount DC‑DC power supply module for Yokogawa CENTUM VP and CENTUM CS3000 DCS systems. It accepts 24 V DC input sourced from external UPS or battery‑backed DC power systems and generates stable internal backplane power for Field Control Units, FIO I/O nodes and ESB bus coupler hardware. S1 denotes hardware revision‑1 with improved component stability for continuous plant‑cycle operation.
Two PW484‑50 S1 modules can be installed in one FCS chassis for dual redundant load‑sharing power architecture. Upon single‑module failure, the remaining unit seamlessly takes over full load without interrupting DCS control operations. Front‑panel LED indicators display power‑on status and fault alarms for quick local diagnostics. Hot‑swap capability allows online replacement during system running, minimizing plant downtime. This DC‑input power unit is widely chosen for sites where AC mains power is not preferred and central 24 V DC UPS backup is deployed.
Application Notes
- Compatible with CENTUM VP / CS3000 FCU chassis, FIO node units and ESB repeater units.
- Redundant configuration requires two PW484‑50 S1 fitted in P1 and P2 slots; do not mix different hardware revisions in one redundant pair.
- Input source must be well‑regulated 24 V DC UPS / battery bank; avoid unstable raw DC supply.
- Designed for installation inside standard industrial control cabinet; not for direct hazardous‑area mounting.
- Keep non‑condensing environment, avoid dust accumulation and corrosive gas exposure.
- Verify hardware and firmware compatibility before commissioning with existing DCS setup.
- Typical industries: petrochemical, power generation, oil‑gas processing, pulp‑paper plants for DCS upgrade and retrofit projects.
