Product Overview

The 95DSS3-1CEX is an explosion-proof dual independent channel digital speed monitoring and overspeed protection module upgraded from Woodward classic DSS series, specially designed for turbo machinery, internal combustion engines, diesel generator sets, gas compressors and steam turbine safety protection loops. The suffix CEX denotes ATEX/IECEx hazardous zone certified version, applicable to Zone 1/2 explosive gas and dust environments in petrochemical, offshore platform and refinery sites.

It receives rotational frequency signals from magnetic pickup sensors installed on engine flywheels or turbine gear wheels, with two fully isolated independent measuring channels to realize redundant speed detection and avoid single-point failure risk. Users can set two separate threshold points via on-board multi-turn potentiometers or PC-based ACT universal calibration software: typically underspeed warning for auxiliary equipment interlock, and critical overspeed shutdown to cut fuel supply, close trip valves and trigger emergency stop circuits to prevent mechanical destructive damage caused by runaway rotation.
